Please read these guidelines thoroughly before you submit your work to BlackBelle Books. Any submission that does not follow these guidelines will be deleted without consideration.
BlackBelle Books is a non-subsidy publishing house. We are not a vanity press or self-publishing site. There is no charge to our authors for submitting their work. We pay our authors a percentage of each book sold as a royalty.
We are currently accepting fiction and nonfiction work, especially those on the following subjects:
Crime
Romance
Historical
Horror
Science fiction
Fantasy
Inspirational
Self Help
How to
We do not accept:
Pornography
Work promoting hatred of any kind (racism, sexism or homophobia included)
Work containing excessive violence or profanity not necessary to the story line
Fan fiction
Erotica
To submit work to us:
Send a query once your work is completed with a 1-2 paragraph synopsis of your work with the first chapter of the manuscript in the body of the email. All queries must include your full name, a pseudonym if used, query letter, brief synopsis, and subject or genre. Email all submissions to submissions@blackbellebooks.com with “Book query submission” in the subject line.
If we like the synopsis and first chapter, we will request a “partial”. This is the first three chapters, or approximately 50 pages, of your book. If you send us a partial before we request it, it will be deleted of without consideration. All partials must be submitted as a doc or docx attachment in the email. We will not accept any other files. Include all 50 pages/3 chapters in one file. Name the file an abbreviated title of your book. Partials should be double-spaced. Include a header with the title of the book, your name, contact information, and number the pages. Start each chapter on a new page. If there is a scene break within a chapter, indicate it with a centered ***.
Our standards are high. Anything you submit must polished and edited. Submissions with numerous grammatical and spellings errors will be rejected on the spot. Your work will be subjected to further editing following acceptance. Do not submit if you are not willing to have your work edited.
You will be notified of our decision in 6-8 weeks, time allowing. Please do not contact us about your submitted query during that time.
